Redeemer Community Church began as a small bible study in the Fall of 2014. As the group of five gathered together for a time of bible study and accountability, God began to stir their hearts toward a shared vision. This vision was one of a different structure, strategy, and culture for a local church in the heart of Oneonta, Alabama. Over the next few months, the core group of five continued to meet to seek God's will for this vision.
On a Sunday afternoon in January 2015, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, the core group gathered together to decide that it was time to move forward, and the church received a name: Redeemer Community Church. The name contains our foundation (our Redeemer) and our focus (our Community).
As plans continued toward our public launch on Easter 2015, another couple was added to the core group. With the core group in place, we began a community bible study. The bible study continued to grow and provide the momentum for our public launch.
As a part of the preparation for our launch, we located a place of worship: Neely Arts. With Neely Arts located in downtown Oneonta, it was the perfect location. The location communicates that we want to be in the heart of our community. Also, we were able to secure a worship leader. With these two components in place, Redeemer Community Church began preview services a month before the launch.
On April 5, 2015 (Easter Sunday), Redeemer Community Church became a reality. In planning the launch, the core group hoped for at least 50 in attendance; God blessed us with 166!
With fully installed elders and our first membership, what was once just on paper became real; the vision became a reality.
In May 2017, we moved into our newly renovated facility in Downtown Oneonta. This facility consists of our Worship Center, Offices, and The Loft (a beautiful upstairs gathering area).
In 2021, we purchased and renovated the building located directly across from our main building and this became the Redeemer Kids Building. In addition to facilities, we were able to add a full staff.
We are looking forward to what God has for us as our story continues!
